As core business with the provision of power supply system, Honda Denki Group is engaged in manufacturing and selling of various type of batteries and AC or DC uninterruptible power supply system. We support maintenance and management of total power supply system by the installation, construction, maintenance and inspection of incidental facilities.

Honda Denki Co., Ltd. is founded as Honda Shoten and started manufacturing and selling lighting equipment for railroad, mining and marine vessels.
Our company started manufacturing alkaline storage batteries (Safety cap lamp for mining), in 1933, Honda Shoten span off the alkaline battery production division, which became Dai-Nippon Kougyo-Seiki Co., Ltd. with increase of demand for alkaline storage batteries.
In 1943, this company renamed HONDA DENKI Co., Ltd.
We started the manufacturing of pocket type alkaline storage batteries in 1953. To improve the battery performance to a global level, we formed a technology tie-up with NIFE JUNGNER AB of Sweden, an inventing manufacturer of alkaline storage batteries. We established the Iwaki factory along with it. At present, our main products are high-performance nickel-cadmium alkaline storage batteries that utilize technologies we developed on our own. These products have been delivered to customers for use as operating power supplies for various types of industrial applications including railways, marine vessels, communications, broadcasting, power stations, foundries, refining plants and various buildings. These products offer a level of performance comparable to the global level, and are widely used as power supply systems in combination with rectifiers.
In addition, there has been a rapid increase in the demand for uninterrupted power supplies (UPS) combined with inverters for use with supercomputers and their terminal equipment accompanying the rapid advances that have recently been made in the field of electronics. To deal with this demand, we have developed very high-rate type pocket type alkaline storage batteries by taking advantage of our technical capabilities, and have successfully established technology not fond at other company in 1975. These batteries are most suitable for instantaneous large current loads, and since they can be supplied extremely inexpensively as compared with sintered-type alkaline storage batteries, their demand is continuing to grow.
In addition to this demand, we are also establishing a proven track record in the area of active exporting of our products. Our products are shipped to a wide range of destinations, consisting primarily of those in Asia, Latin America, the Middle and Near East and Africa for use a wide range of applications, including train vehicle, railroad signals, communications, power supply for plant, power stations and marine vessels.
On the other hand, in the field of manufacturing facilities of alkaline storage batteries and expertise, we provided technologies about alkaline storage batteries to Seoul Battery (current Rocket Electric Machinery Co., Ltd.) of South Korea in 1988. We concentrate power on the sale of the manufacturing facilities of the factory and a technical grant.
